Why go?

The program "Following the footsteps of African Adam" goes beyond the usual safari. We get to places where massive tour operators do not travel, and we observe Africa as it is. Our main task is to immerse into the African nature, its geological history, and take a close look at the ancient cradle that East Africa has been to the whole of mankind for the last 4 million years. We will get acquainted with the initial stage of the birth of human culture - with the ancient African tribe still living in the Paleolithic.

We will find ourselves in a variety of landscapes, from savannah to jungle, visit various tribes and see large animals in the vicinity of Lake Manyara and the eponymous national park, the legendary Ngorongoro crater with its big five, described by Hunter, the habitat of our ancient ancestors (traces of Australopithecus with the age of 3.8 million years were found near Ngorongoro in Letoli on volcanic ash, the first representative of the Homo genus was found here), we sail to the barrier reef, and, of course, we will see a variety of African animals, large and small, terrestrial and marine.

Modern cultural values will also not be ignored - it includes a visit to the historic center of Stone Town and the impressive museums of African culture in Arusha. For those who are not indifferent to the band "Queen" - a visit to Freddie Mercury's cafe, a native of Zanzibar.

Living in civilized places - only in hotels with high ratings.

Briefly about the tour to Tanzania and Zanzibar:

Hiking and 3 nights in tents, jeeps, airplanes, sailing boats and a marine catamaran.

  • Moscow - Nairobi - Arusha - Rift Valley (geological "wonders of the world", walking route through the homeland of human and the life of modern tribes)
  • The Hadza tribes and the Datoga of Lake Eyashi (a 5-day jeep safari and hiking tours through the Hadza tribe territory, the most remote corners of Africa, the primitive communal system - as it really is)
  • Ngorongoro Crater (jeep safari in the largest caldera in the world, one of the centers of our most ancient ancestors, one of the few places in the world where you will see large animals wherever you look, the location of the big five, the opportunity to see rhinoceroses and lions)
  • Tarangire National Park (jeep safari at the National Park and watching African animals in close)
  • Zanzibar (2 days on a luxury beach in a decent hotel, swimming, diving, sailing, fauna of littoral, Stone Town)

Day 1-2, January 18th-19th. Flight to Nairobi (Kenya), the beginning of the program. Moving to Arusha (Tanzania). On the way you can see zebras and giraffes. Overnight at the hotel (quality certificates of Trip Advisor 2014 and Traveler Choice 2014, Expedia rating "very good", recommendations of 98% of Expedia tourists).

Day 3, January 20th . Jeep Safari in the Tarangire National Park. The park is famous not only for an amazing abundance of elephants (it is literally full of them), but also rare animals like the oryxes, and even giraffe gazelles (genuerks). There is a high probability to meet African predators - lions, cheetahs and leopards. Night at the hotel of village (100% a few reviews on Trip Advisor "very good" or "excellent").

Day 4, January, 21st . We leave unnecessary things in the hotel and move on an off-road car to dry areas in the vicinity of Lake Eyashi. We visit the village of the cattle-breeding tribe Datoga. Night in a tent in a field camp (there is a shower, a toilet), it is possible to meet a galago, as well as black vervet monkeys. Dinner by the fire.

Day 5, January 22nd . We gather camp, take water with us. We continue the journey to the southeast. Our goal is the distant parking of hadza ("hadzabe" or "batindiga" in Swahili). This is one of the last remaining in the Paleolithic people on Earth. Hazaba hunters-gatherers do not know agriculture, cattle breeding, do not go fishing. We make a field camp near their parking lot, make a fire, have a rest.

Day 6, January 23rd. A day at the Hadza living far from the tourist routes and roads, on the edge of the Euphorbiaceae grove. We communicate, take photographs, observe everyday life, methods of making a bonfire and dressing skins, collecting wild honey and searching for roots. Long-distance transitions are possible (in particular, to the deserted shores of Lake Eyashi), crossings and staging of the next camp, as well as night hunting together with hadza. Attention! - Please do not personally participate in the killing and eating animals, we have the eco-tourism.

Day 7, January, 24th. We take the camp and return to our hotel in the village, on the way to make stops to explore the huge baobabs among the rocks sacred to the Hadza, flowering Adenium - poisonous "Desert Rose" and its relative - bottle tree pachypodium, indistinguishable from a large boulder in its appearance. The evening is devoted to the long-awaited rest from the all-pervading red dust and simple joys of civilization (hot water, white sheets).

Day 8, January, 25th. Jeep safari in the crater of Ngorongoro. There is an opportunity to see the "big five" - elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards and rhinoceroses. Ngorongoro - the world's largest caldera, located near the famous Olduvai Gorge, where the mass remains and tools were found the first Homo - Homo habilis, as well as traces in the town Laetolil left in volcanic ash by Australopithecus afarensis, one of our most ancient ancestors. In the evening transfer to Arusha, settling in a certified hotel known to us.
